In in vitro fertilization (IVF) a single sperm cell from the man is injected using a microscopic needle, directly into each harvested egg from the woman. The resulting zygote is then transferred after a few days into the woman's uterus. Â IVF is a type of assisted reproductive technology used for infertility treatment. It includes the steps like removing an ovum from the woman's ovaries, fertilisation (sperm and ovum co-incubation) outside the body, embryo transfer to the same or another woman's uterus.
