The US would begin expanding in particular to the Pacific to create a modern nation with global connection. Reformers expanded cultural ideas and businesses gained resources. The military also expanded as the navy grew with new bases on many of the newly obtained islands.

The United States has always loved the idea of expansion right from the time that the settlers arrived in the country.

This idea can be justified given the idea of manifest destiny and the expansion of the United States to the west of the pacific ocean.

The idea that the United States had that led them to expanding was that the land that they were to occupy had been destined to be theirs by God.

They occupied the land and sent the original occupants farther away. The idea of Isolationism was from the first president who advised the country to stay away from international politics and governance.

In the late 19th century the US moved into expansionism through the acquiring of more lands from the natives.
