It is definitely a global issue, but 1 in every 4 Americans will contract a cardiovasscular disease in their lifetime. Some factors are genetic, but those are universal. A more accurate explaination would be the obesity epidemic in the USA. Obesity is closely linked with heart disease, and conditions that could lead to heart disease such as diabetes or metabolic syndrome.
