First you have to find a common denominator which is 4.
6 2/4 + 3 1/4 = 9 3/4
So your final answer is 9 3/4

Because they don't have common denominators you must first find the least common denominator(LCD);

the LCD of 2 and 4 is 4

Then you put 4 as the common denominator;

6 2/4  +  3 1/4 (the second fraction stays the same cause it already has 4 as the denominator)

Now you could add cause they're like fractions;

6 2/4 + 3 1/4 = 9 3/4

So your final answer would be:  9 3/4
