Jeb took 1 hour 40 minutes to complete road race that was three laps around a section of the city. He took 1/4 of the total time to run the first lap and 1/3 of the remaining time to run the second lap the rest of the time was used to run the third lap How many minutes did it take jeb to complete the race?

1 hour 40 minutes = 100 minutes 

1st lap = 1/4 = 25 minutes 

2nd lap = 1/3 of the remaining (100-25) 75 minutes = 25 minutes 

3rd lap = 100- 25-25 = 50 minutes ANSWER 

2) Let the length of rope be 36X cm 

1/4 = 9X cm = tie the boxes 

5/9 of remaining = 5/9 x 27X = 15X cm 

Remaining = 36X - 9X - 15X = 12X 

12X = 120 cm 

X = 10 

Length of rope used for tying boxes = 9X = 90 cm ANSWER 

3) Let the total fruit pieces be 12X 

1/4 = 3X = cherries 

Remaining = 9X 

2/3 = pears = 6X = 48 

X = 8 

12X = 96 fruit pieces ANSWER
