A price was first decreased by 12%, then it was decreased again by an additional 5%. What is the percent of the total decrease?

The answer is not 17%,22% or 8%.

Please help!!!!

The original price we'll pretend it is 100.

A decrease of 12% would get us 88.

Another decrease of 5% would be 88 - (88×0.05) = 83.6

So the decrease would be 100-83.6=16.4

The answer is 16.4
