Commonly known as deer flies. Tabanidae females inject chrysoptin into a
feeding wound, which acts as an anticoagulant. Deer flies (Tabanidae) most
commonly feed on the head and neck of the host. Tabanidae adults feed on the
fecal matter of the insect order Hemiptera.
