Describe some of the foreign policies established by U.S. leaders in the early 1900s.

Respuesta :

The early 1900s was a time of growing nativism, meaning people preferred native born people over immigrants or foreigners, and this greatly effected the immigrant policy. They began to limit the number of immigrants they allowed into America, such as Japanese and Chinese, some countries they completely shut off and refused to let any immigrants from those countries in. They also were very rude to the immigrants already in America (take Sacco and Vanzetti for example)

Big Stick Policy: foreign policy under Theodore Roosevelt that used US power to police foreign nations, particularly those in Latin America

Roosevelt Corollary: foreign policy put forth by Roosevelt stating the US would intervene in Latin America on behalf of foreign powers if Latin American nations did not meet their agreements.

Dollar Diplomacy: foreign policy under William Howard Taft that used US economic power to try to shape international affairs.
