The equation below shows the relationship between the temperature in degrees Celsius, C, and degrees Fahrenheit, F:

F = 9 over 5 C + 32

Which of the following formulas correctly solves for C?

Answers:
C = 5F − 32 over 9

C = 5F over 9 − 32

C = 9 over 5 (F − 32)

C = 5 over 9 (F − 32)

Respuesta :

first we subtract the constant (makes things nicer) so we end up with
F - 32 = 9 over 5 C (for future referance we will write 9 over 5 as : 9/5
now all we need to do is move the coefficient which would be by deciding both sides by 9/5
[tex] \frac{f - 32}{ \binom{9} {5} } [/tex]
since things can get messy and generally dont look good when you have a fraction in a fraction we will instead multiply by 5/9
so we end up with:
[tex] \frac{5}{9} (f - 32)[/tex]
please note the reason we write f - 32 in parenthesis is so we know that we are multiplying the whole eaquatiom by that (if you need more explanation let me know!
