the day of the dead is celebrated today with lots of candles and ballons kind of like a festival and lots of prays. But his is mostly common in Mexico and a calavera poems are diferent of peoms that  are used for the dead like the person who relative they are close to

Calavera means skulls so it is a poem to just joke around on day of the dead. 
Day of the dead is when thley celebrate that the person is dead(in a good way) instead of mourning. The make ofrendas (altars) and put their dead loved ones favorite thing
