Earth is approximately 1.5x10^8 km from the sun. The speed of light is 3.0x10^8. How many minutes does it take for light to reach earth from the sun?

1.5 x 10[tex] ^{8} [/tex] mm = 1500 x 10[tex]^{8} [/tex] m

1500 x 10[tex]^{8} [/tex] / ( 3.0 x 10[tex]^{8} [/tex] ) = 500 s

500/60 = 8.3 

So approximately it takes 8.5 minutes
