The slope formula is:

[tex]m = \frac{ y_{2} - y_{1} }{ x_{2} - x_{1} } [/tex]

So for the first problem:

We can just put in the numbers. Just make sure to put them in, in the same order! [tex] x_{2} [/tex] and [tex]  y_{2} [/tex] must be from the same ordered pair.

So this would then equal:
[tex]m= \frac{1 - (-3)}{-8 - (-8)} [/tex]

Or m = 4 / 0

So in this case the slope would be undefined, because anything divided by 0 cannot be defined.

[tex]m= \frac{-8 - (-8)}{-5 - 8} [/tex]

Or m = 0/-13

Which would equal 0.
Formula for slope: [tex] \frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1} [/tex]

1) First, you would need to plug the coordinates into the formula.
[tex] \frac{-3 - 1}{8 + 8}[/tex]

Now, all you would have to do is solve and simplify.
[tex] \frac{-3 - 1}{8 + 8}[/tex] = [tex] \frac{-4}{0} [/tex] = undefined

The slope is vertical. So it would be undefined.

2) First, you would need to plug the coordinates into the formula.
[tex] \frac{-8 + 8}{8 + 5} [/tex]

Now, all you would have to do is solve and simplify.
[tex] \frac{-8 + 8}{8 + 5} [/tex] = [tex] \frac{0}{13} [/tex] = 0

This slope is horizontal, so the slope would be 0

I hope this helps!
