Respuesta :

Certain wavelengths of light supply the correct energy for photosynthesis to occur. Reddish and bluish light is absorbed best by chlorophyll, and promotes photosynthesis; green light is absorbed the least (which is why chlorophyll looks green to us), and slows photosynthesis down. So, it is best to use red or blue light when growing plants.

The color of light absorbed by photosynthetic pigment determines how effective photosynthesis will be.

PHOTOSYNTHESIS:

  • Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants obtain their food using energy from sunlight.

  • Photosynthesis occurs in the chloroplast of plant cells, which harbors a pigment called CHLOROPHYLL. Chlorophyll is the main photosynthetic pigment in plants and it absorbs light best at red and blue region.

  • This means that when chlorophyll absorbs light at these two regions, photosynthetic rate is boosted and vice versa.
