Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s arguments were more effective because they were a persuasive appeal to people's emotions. When Dr. King spoke about love of fellow man and using unifying language it appealed to people's emotions. Also, his use of non-violence in the face of violent oppression encouraged sympathy for his cause.

Separation, especially when applied to segregating individuals by race, is known as segregation. On the basis of race or suspected race, persons are restricted to particular circumscribed regions of habitation or to distinct institutions and services.

In the following ways, Dr. King's arguments were more effective than George Wallace's:

  • Dr. King's message about brotherhood was more convincing, despite the fact that George Wallace's case was well-structured and used some of the same sources as Dr. King.

  • George Wallace maintained that states should be able to do as they pleased, but that no one should be allowed to disregard individual rights, and that we should all be treated equally.

  • Wallace came to the realization that he was living his own life.
