About 15/16 of a certain planets surface is covered with either water or desert. About 5/16 is covered with water. Solve the equation d+5/16=15/16 to find d, the part of the planets surface covered with deser.

d + 5/16 = 15/16....subtract 5/16 from both sides
d = 15/16 - 5/16
d = 10/16 which reduces to 5/8 <==
