What were the "hawks" and the "doves" in American government during the Vietnam war?

Respuesta :

The hawks wanted President Johnson to use all of the American man power and fire power to win the war. The Doves supported peace and wanted the war to end.

During the Vietnam War the country was divided into two different sections: people who supported the war and people who were against it.

The one who wanted the war were called the 'Hawks' and who didn't were the 'Doves'.

The 'Hawks' believed that the war was necessary in order to stop the spread of communism in Asia and they supported American's military involvement in that area. The 'Doves' thought that the problem in Vietnam was a civil war and that America should not intervene and risk the lives of innocent people. They held many anti-war protests all over the country.
