A rational number is a number that can be written as a fraction (ratio)
An irrational number is a number that can only be written as decimal with endless repeating digit

[tex] \sqrt{2} [/tex] is irrational because we can only write this as a decimal  we have 1.414213562

8.212211222111... is irrational because it's a decimal value with endless repeating digit

8.333333333... is rational because as a fraction it can be written as 83/9 (it's a ratio of 83 to 9)

[tex] \sqrt{80} [/tex] as a decimal is 8.94427191 which cannot be written as fraction, hence irrational

[tex] \sqrt{25} [/tex] is an integer 5 which can be written as 5/1 hence a rational number
