Latoya will rent a car for the weekend. She can choose one of two plans. The first plan has an initial fee of $46 and costs an additional $0.17 per mile driven. The second plan has an initial fee of $55 and costs an additional $0.12 per mile driven.

Let the  amount they both drive be x miles.
Then as the costs  are the same
46 + 0.17x = 55 + 0.12x

0.05x = 55-46 = 9
x = 8/0.05 = 180 miles   <------- answer to first part

This cos = 46 + 0.17*180  =  $76.60   answer
