Yes, I think Odysseus' revenge was excessive and it was really horrible to read about. Just because the suitors would not leave did not mean that they had to be slaughtered like horses, they could have instead been imprisoned in the dungeon. That way, Odysseus would get his revenge and the suitors would be punished, but not mercilessly killed. I think the suitors were mainly killed because Odysseus thought it was fun to make them suffer in his little death game.

No Odysseus's revenge for the suitors was not excessive at all. While Odysseus was off fighting in the war the suitors started to take over his house and home. The suitors had threated to kill Odysseus if tries to return. They suitors had also threated Telemachus and said that they would also kill him. The suitors were very barbaric and rude to every one in the house and they even had refused to leave .When Odysseus returns he is ready to do what the suitors said they were going to do to him, He just gave them a taste of their own medicine and he took back his place.
