Explanation:
Charged particles from the sun in the form of solar wind continuously bombards the Earth. The magnetosphere (the magnetic field of the earth surrounding it protects from the charged particles by deflecting them further in space.
The charged particles that are not deflected are trapped in Van Allen radiation belts. There are two such belts and some others which are temporarily created.
