Why is a woman more susceptible to vaginal yeast infections when taking antibiotics? her immune system is already not functioning well due to previous infections. all vaginal bacteria are killed by the antibiotic and can't competitively exclude the yeast. the antibiotic serves as nutrition for the infectious yeast. antibiotics are lethal to most types of yeast?

Hey there! Hello!

Based on some brief research I did, antibiotics are general bacteria killers and have the tendency to kill  the good bacteria in your body in addition to the bad bacteria you want to get rid of. This is also true for the good bacteria that prevent vaginal yeast infections, as well. Based on this information, the best answer to the question is probably the second one, "all vaginal bacteria are killed by the antibiotic and can't competitively exclude the yeast."

Hope this helped you out! Feel free to ask any additional questions if you have any. :-)
