2 because if 1/2 of 8 is 4 and 1/4 of 8 is = to 1/2 of 4, then 1/4 of 8 must be 2.

2 hours because if you count by 2's: 2, 4, 6, 8, you can see that a 1/4 of 8 is 2.
you can also just divide 8 by 2.
