The Industrial Revolution put America on the world map because of how much raw materials were in the north of the country. Cities like Pittsburgh exploded in population and GDP because of all the raw iron and coal, allowing for a huge production of steel. This surplus of materials allowed for the US to experience the industrial revolution to the same extent as Great Britain.
