Rainsford and General Zaroff enter into a competition. General Zaroff was to find Rainsford by midnight of the third day. In the end, Rainsford won the game.
3. Connell creates suspense at the very beginning of "The Most Dangerous Game" because Whitney tells Rainsford about the mysterious reputation of the island in the distance (C).
This makes the reader curious about the island and eludes to what might happen during the story.
