Use of identity:

  • [tex]log_a\ (b) - log_a\ (c)=log_a\ (b/c)[/tex]

When it is applied to given it should be:

  • [tex]log\ (x+3)-log\ (8x)=log\ [(x+3)/(8x)][/tex]

So the RHS of the given equation is incorrect.
