Back then they thought that people drinking alcohol deteriorated Americans health. But they had to cross it out because they soon realized that people were getting mad. People had lost their jobs at breweries and restaurants lost a lot of money. That also meant that crime rates would go up because people were still buying alcohol even though it was illegal.
