Carbon found in the air is converted into Oxygen through photosynthesis. Us humans and other beings breathe in the air and turns it into Carbon Dioxide. Carbon is also found in living beings. When living beings die or sink such as phytoplankton, they become rocks who eventually become fossil fuels, gas, or coal. These elements when burned in factories by us humans, they release carbon into the atmosphere creating a cycle of carbon being created and formed into other things.
