Slave Codes were a series of laws that restricted slave’s behavior they had the main purpose of avoiding rebellions by the slaves. The slaves' codes considered slaves a property, therefore, they could not have a property of their own, they could not assemble without the presence of a white person, they could not testify against white persons.
