Punishments are necessary because nobody would respect any law if there were no consequences. At the same time, punishment must not be the only reason for Criminal Law. Criminal Law must apply punishment and at the same time avoid people from committing any crimes by education. Crime reduction is a complex matter but punishment has been known to be a bad stimulation to reduce crime, instead, education has been far more effective.

Answer:

Yes, I feel like they do reduce crime. I feel like this because this is basically learning from your mistakes. If you shoplift, you have to pay a very high fee or stay in jail for a certain amount of time. From this, you will think to yourself, “this is bad, and it's a lot of money, maybe I shoulndt to it again.” or something similar. I feel like we can reduce the amount of murder crimes by eliminating murders. I feel like if somone kills somone then they should get their life taken, a life for a life, this would lower murder crime because people planning on killing somone will think twice if its worth their life if they get caught.
