why does copper ii chloride not conduct electricity as a solid, but does conduct electricity when dissolved in distilled water

in solid state copper and chloride ions present in copper chloride are immobile thus cannot conduct electricity when dissolved in water the ions dissociates enabling them to conduct electricity as they get discharged
