1 + 10 + 7 + 6 + 4 + 8 = 36

36 / 6 ( there are 6 total numbers) = the mean is 6

Then subtract the mean from each number:

1 - 6 = -5

10 - 6 = 4

4 - 6 = -2

8 - 6 = 2

(don't worry about the negatives)

5 + 4 + 1 + 0 + 2 + 2 = 14

14 / 6 ( again, there are 6 total numbers) = 2.33
