You didn't say what specific information, but I assume it is something inappropriate that someone who was looking to ethier hire you, or accept you into a school, group, etc.
You should not share personal information on social network because everyone has access to it. This could put you in loss for an opportunity, cause people to prejudge your character, and could put you in potential danger if such information included specifics on your personal info.
