A rectangular piece of paper with length 34cm and width 16cm has two semicircles cut out of it. Find the area of the paper that remains. Use the value 3.14 for PIE , and do not round your answer.

Area = 3.14 × 8^2
= 200.96 cm^2

More information about the semi-circles needed. 

But! 2 semi-circles make a whole circle, and the area for the circle follows the formula 2xpixr^2 
(that's two pi r squared) 

Measure the radius, plug it into the formula, then you'll know the area o the two semi circles.. 
Then you can subtract that from the area of the paper which is 34x16.
