Which of these sentences sounds most like a review of a discussion?
We spend half the time discussing plot and half the time looking for themes.

The last one, because you are giving a description of what you learned to wrap up your writing

I would say the first one because you discussed every part of what you learned. You covered the plot which is a very important thing to understand and then once you did that you then went and looked for the themes inside of the plot.
