The Iroquois League was formed to protect one another from enemies. It is stated in the document that they are united for a common purpose and refers to it as the "Great Tree of Peace".

Crops were part of the Colombian Exchange and many of the new world crops were new to Europeans. Native Americans taught Europeans how to cultivate the American land and how to grow crops which were traded back to Europe.
