Respuesta :

the perpendicular slope would be m=-8/5

The slope that is perpendicular to m = 5/8 is given by; m' = -8/5

  • When dealing with slope - intercept form of equation of a line, the general equation is;

         y = mx + c

where;

m is the slope

c is the y-intercept

  • Now, for a line to be perpendicular to a line above that has it's slope as m, the slope of this new line will be the negative inverse of the first slope. This is;  m' = -1/m

  • Applying that to our question, it means the slope that is perpendicular to m = 5/8 is; m' = -1/(5/8) = -8/5
