Answer:

Franz Ferdinand and Alliances

When Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. Austria wanted to have a war with Serbia since a small group called the Black Hand (that WASN'T associated with the goverment) were unhappy when he went to visit Serbia on the day they payed respects to everyone from Serbia who had losts their lives in war against Austria. Franz Ferdinand however didn't know this (or didn't acknowledge it) and went to Serbia and go to try fix their relationship with them because of their bad history in the past.

He was killed and Austria wanted war against Serbia but because of alliances Russia intervened so Germany went along with everyone else thus starting WW1

TL;DR

Austria mad that F.F was killed by gang from Serbia. Wanted war against Serbia. Other countries joined in due to alliances
