The results from the last quiz that Mr. Tham gave his class are 10, 15, 25, 75, 75, 77, 80, 83, 85, and 90. If he wants to persuade his class to study harder for the next quiz, what statistical measure should he use?
A. mode
B. median
C. mean

Respuesta :

Answer: C. mean (The class average will be higher)

Answer:

The results from last quiz that Mr. Tham gave his class are 10, 15, 25, 75, 75, 77, 80, 83, 85, and 90.

Mean

[tex]=\frac{10+15+25+75+75+ 77+80+ 83+85+90}{10}\\\\=\frac{615}{10}\\\\=61.5[/tex]

Median:

Arranging data in ascending order: 10, 15, 25, 75, 75, 77, 80, 83, 85, and 90.

As, number of observation is even,that is 10, so median can be found by average of fifth and sixth term.

[tex]=\frac{75+77}{2}=\frac{152}{2}=76[/tex]

Mode:

Mode is that value in data set which occurs maximum number of times.

So, Mode = 75

As, most of data set which are on right of mean ,are nearer to mean. Median and mode are very far away from smallest data set , so these  can't give better representation of data.

Option C: Mean is right choice.
