Producers are very important for the transfer of energy within the ecosystem. It is because, producers make food that is the only source of energy for consumers.
Consumers rely on producers for their energy requirement. They pass on this energy from primary consumers to secondary consumers and tertiary consumers.
This energy is then transferred to decomposers.
