They had the best that was offered back then but upper class in Upper Canada during the 1800's was the same as middle class in Britain during the same time frame. Things did slowly get "better" for the upper class though as Canada grew as a country. Many of the men that were in the upper class were leaders. They had wealth that allowed them to do many things the other classes weren't.
