Part 1: Sam rented a boat at $225 for 2 days. If he rents the same boat for 5 days, he has to pay a total rent of $480. Write an equation in standard form to represent the total rent that same has to pay for renting the boat for x days. Part 2: Describe the steps to graph the equation obtained above on the coordinate axes. Mention the labes on the axes and the intervals.

The answer for the first question is  y = 85x + 55. For the second question, when graphing the the equation you have to plot it out. The line of the plot is y = 85x + 55 and the points are  {2, 225} and {5, 480}.
from the part 1, the equation would be :

y = 225 - 2x 

y = 480 - 5x

225 - 2x = 480 - 5x

5x-2x    = 480 - 225

3x = 255

x  = 85 >>>> you can substitute this to the y equation

y= 225 - 2x   >>>>  y = 225 - 2 (85)

                               y = 55

so the total rent would be 85x + 55

if you draw the line, the point would be : (2,225) and (5, 480)
