I already answered but I think its a good question and I want to know others opinions. Imagine that you are living in the mid-1800s and a photographer comes to your town for the first time. You’ve never seen a photograph before or had your picture taken. Why do you think people were so excited to have their photographs taken when photography was first invented? How would you have reacted? How has our relationship with and reaction to photography changed from the mid 1800s to today?

I believe people were very excited to see photographs because it was a brand-new, unheard of thing. I, too, would be confused and elated to see a photograph of myself for the first time, not to mention o photograph of someone or something else.

I imagine that if someones photograph had never been taken before, they'd be very excited for the possibility. It's a permanent solid remake of what a person and/or their family looks like, and it'd be a very big thing to come by if it were rare. I think people were rightfully excited and I would be too. I'd say photography isn't such a thing to get excited about nowadays though since it isn't as rare now. I would be alot less willing to pay for my photo to be taken, because I can take a picture of myself whenever I want to just using my phone.
