Answer:

The numbers are ( 1 , 9 )   .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given statement as ;

A first number plus twice a second number is 19.

Twice the first number plus the second number total 11

Let The first number = x

And The second number = y

Now, according to question

First number + twice second number = 19

I.e x + 2 × y = 19    ....A

And Twice first number + second number = 11

I.e 2 × x + y = 11     ....B

Solving  A and B

2 × ( 19 - 2 × y ) + y = 11

or, 38 - 4 y + y = 11

Or, 3 y = 27

∴  y = [tex]\frac{27}{3}[/tex]

I.e y = 9

Put the value of y in Eq A

x + 2 × y = 19

Or,  x + 2 × 9 = 19

Or, x = 19 - 18

∴   x = 1

So, numbers are ( x , y ) = ( 1 , 9 )

Hence The numbers are ( 1 , 9 )   .  Answer
