Dear Cindy

I am writing this letter from Argonne Forest a rocky stripe in the east side of France, my company was deployed here a week ago and we have encountered an environment of tension and rage in the camp. The battles take place in the front line over 20 miles up to our camp. The sound of the gun machines, and the explosions of the grenades and rockets are a reminder of the hell that is being lived there.

I wish to have enough courage to defend this cause and make you proud. The men in my division are thug and intelligent but under that amount of pressure is hard not to think that death is just seconds away from catching you.

I hope that at home people realize the effort of the troops for being here, betting our lives daily in sought of a victory. Certainly, no man or woman can be the same after experience all this pain and chaos. But for what is left I hope to have long peaceful days along you.

Sincerely

Brian Connerly
