Identify elements of Romanticism within Rousseau's writing and explain these elements in the context of Confessions.

Respuesta :

Rousseau talks about some of his experiences from he was younger and he talks about how he started to get involved in literature, he even talked about how some experiences made him very sad for a long period of time but that same sadness became happiness when he became older.

Rousseau talks about his early life experiences and how they shaped his love for literature and brought great sadness that transformed into great joy as he aged. Rousseau talks about how his mother and father had great attachments towards one another and then eventually talks about how she died giving birth to him. He talks about his frail body and how he only survived because of the graciousness of his aunt who nursed him back to health. With the sadness of his mother's passing, he talks about all the happiness that followed as his father paid special attention to him but never spoiled him. It was from this experience that he acquired a great love for romantic styles of literature as his father would stay up late with him reading his mother's old book. There is also a sense of great positivity within his literature as he talks about the day of judgment after he dies and how he will confess all of his sins and tell his life story. The outlook of his life from his adult life and the foreshadowing he leaves as he talks about how his childhood events lead up to the rest of his life. Rousseau also talks about his family members with such acclimation and tenderness that you can experience his emotions through his approval of them and the places that they hold within his heart. It is seen that he is an extremely passionate man and he even talks about it within his childhood. All of the emotions and positive outlooks that Rousseau talks about within Confessions are great examples of the ideals of the Romantics
