As an example, I will discuss the character of Fitzwilliam Darcy.

Darcy is the counterpart of Elizabeth, the protagonist of the novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. While Elizabeth represents the theme of "prejudice" in the book, Darcy represents the theme of "pride."

At the beginning of the book, we learn that Darcy is a wealthy, reputable young man, who also owns a reasonably large state. His social position makes him proud and concerned with reputation. Because of this, his initial opinion of Elizabeth is not a fair one.

However, Darcy eventually overcomes both pride and prejudice. When he is rejected by Elizabeth, his pride is hurt, but this leads to the development of a greater humility. Moreover, his prejudice is also overcome when he reevaluates the character of Elizabeth and realizes that he was too harsh in judgement. His actions contribute to the main theme, as he shows that overcoming both pride and prejudice are the only paths to achieving true love.
