Answer:

The King of the forest was categoric when he stated that he hadn´t heard in his long existence about any human capable of make good use of the ¨miracle¨ to obtain three wishes.

We, the human are a race with many gifts, but we are not exempt to be ambitious, selfish, senseless, between others. Clearly having affinity or sympathy to the previous behaviors, is probable for the average person to not make a good use of the wishes, since will be affected and inevitably corrupted by his internal defects, however, in this case, The King of the Forest found a not too common person, at least in his way to see the life.

Mr. Peters proved the King wrong about the waste of his three wishes with the single fact that he used them to LEARN and the experience allowed him to feel real love (that was a lost aspect in his life due his loneliness), he learned a lot and felt love to another person, love Leita so much that he sacrificed the fact to see or felt her again as a human, only to see her happy.

Besides this, his ¨love decision¨ actually worked in all the ways possible, since Leita and her sister started to join Mr. Peters in his daily days, this way removing the ¨loneliness¨ from his life, and Leita was able to get back to her original form, the form that made her feel happy.
