Peasants and vassals were two different classes in the feudal system that existed in the ancient Japanese culture, majorly where they had to serve the feudal lords in some way or the other.
Peasants were at the bottom of the feudal system. The Peasants shared this bottom position with the farmers and were the most discriminated by the feudal lords.
Vassal, on the other hand, were under that of the nobles in the hierarchical class system and took care and managed the works of manor, which was the house of feudal lords.
