The adrenal glands, in a cascade called the Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal axis, the hypothalamus sends CRH to the pituitary gland, and the pituitary then sends minerotropin and glucotropin hormones activating the adrenal glands which then regulates your stress response.
The adrenal gland encompasses of two glands namely the cortex and the medulla. In response to stress, these glands basically produce hormones that aids in regulation of blood pressure, glucose uptake, and the body's water and sodium balance.
