Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

See Discussion below

Discussion:

Let  a/b and c/d be rational numbers we wish to multiply. Then

(a/b) * (c/d) = (a*c)/(b*d)

The numerator (a*c) is the product of two integers ( a and c) and the  denominator (b*d) is also ( b and d). In that way  multiplying rational numbers is like multiplying integers.

Thank you,

MrB

Answer:

Multiplication of rational numbers is an extension of the multiplication of integers. It is the multiplication of two fractions with the same denominator. The product of two rational numbers is a rational number.
